Gerizim Temple Staircase

View looking west at the well-preserved stair case on the top of the eastern slope of Mt. Gerizim that leads up to the "Sacred Area" on Mt. Gerizim.

Yitzhak Magen, the excavator, seems to date it to the Hellenistic Period, ca. 200 B.C.—during the days of the Seleucid ruler Antiochus III—when the temple was rebuilt (Magen, pg. 1747).
