View looking northeast at the interior of the stadium. The stadium is located on the southeastern portion of the mound of Laodicea. It was built during the reign of the emperor Vespasian (A.D. 69–79). It is one of the largest stadiums in Asia (compare Aphrodisias and Perge) being about 810 ft. [247 m.] long.
