Treaty of Kadesh

Kadesh is an ancient city located on the east bank of the Orontes River in modern Syria. There, in 1275 B.C. the powerful Egyptian King, Rameses II fought the Hittite king, Muwatalli II, to a draw. In 1258 Rameses II and the Hittite king, Hattusilas III, signed a non-aggression treaty that also delimited spheres of influence.
