Apse

View looking east at the apse of the church. In the apse is a low bench called a synthronos. In front of the apse is the chancel where the clergy performed the rites of the church. In the foreground was a mosaic floor that has been totally destroyed.

The church has been extensively reconstructed using local basalt stone.
