Pool

A view looking south at one of the side structures of the large marketplace in the Lower City of Diocaesarea.

In the center is a plastered pool (impluvium) that was surrounded by a colonnade the floors of which were covered by mosaics.

This area, and structure, may have served as Diocaesarea's/Zippori's marketplace from the first to the fourth centuries, BC.

The University of South Florida excavated this area.
