A detailed view of the site of the crucifixion (Calvary or Golgotha). The venerated spot of the crucifixion is under the altar—just below the icon of Jesus. Below the icon is an opening through which one can actually touch bedrock. On both sides of the altar, behind the glass casing, bedrock is visible.
