Central Grotto

View, looking south, at the central grotto. The altar on the platform is one dedicated to Joseph, husband of Mary. It commemorates his reception of a dream that he should take his family and flee to Egypt (Matthew 2:13–15, 19–20).

In the upper right portion of the image is the entrance to a passageway that leads to the Grotto of the Nativity.
