East Benjamin Wilderness

View looking south from a modern settlement/lookout point called Mitzpeh Danni. In the foreground, the limestone terrain is covered with winter grass—good for shepherds (the picture was taken on 10 January). In the distance, the chalk formations are visible, closer to the horizon—especially on the left (east) side of the image.

This area of "wilderness" (= Hebrew מִדבָר) is the northern extension of the Wilderness of Judah.
