Sacrifice

Sacrifice

Evidently an athlete, holding a torch in his left hand and an offering in his right, approaching an altar to make a sacrifice (prior to competition?). The vase is a “krater,” that was used for wine.

On the other hand, the male figure seems to have a “tail”—possibly indicating a mythological creature rather than a human.

Found at Olympia.
