Runner
ID: GSPLOMP05

A representation of a runner prepared for the start of the race—on a “krater” (a jar used for wine). The pole in front of him may be a representation of the turning pole—or finish line—at the far end of the stadium.
Above and between the runner and the turning pole is a strigil—a scraper that was used to remove olive oil, sand, dirt, and sweat from the body (Click Here to view an ancient strigil).
