Emperor Caracalla

This is an image of a bust of the Roman Emperor Caracalla (A.D. 198–217).

It is an example of a series produced for Caracalla when he became emperor. His expression shows a severe and restless man as his contemporaries used to describe him in their writings. He appears as the Empire master with a dreadful sidelong glance.

Me: it looks like the head is original but the "bust" that it rests upon is "modern."
