Map or image for Masada Western Palace

Herod the Great (37–4 B.C.) built a large palace on the western side of Masada, very close to the area where the entrance to the fortress was located. This would have been the general palace where he normally would have received guests who had arrived from the west, after having made the trek through the Judean Wilderness to Masada.
