Malta Maritime Museum
site
The Malta Maritime Museum is located in the city of Birgu (aka Vittoriosa) that is primarily a peninsula that projects out into the "Grand Harbor"—it overlooks the "Dockyard Creek." It is housed in the former Royal Naval Bakery that was built in 1840. The bakery supplied naval personnel of the British Mediterranean Fleet. The collection includes boats, models of ships, anchors, amphorae, cannons, etc.
The collection of ancient artifacts (Roman Period and Earlier) is minimal—but important.
I visited the museum in September of 2017 and the photos and commentary reflect the displayed items at that time—some objects were in the process of being redisplayed (especially ancient anchors).
